What is an irrigation system?
A lawn irrigation system is a setup of sprinklers, drip lines, or soaker hoses designed to provide consistent and efficient watering for your lawn and garden.
Do I really need an irrigation system for my lawn?
It depends on factors like your climate, soil type, and how much time you can dedicate to watering. If you want a lush, green lawn without the hassle of manual watering, an irrigation system can be a great investment. It can save you time and offer precision on water use.
What are the benefits of installing an irrigation system?
- Saves time by automating watering
- Reduces water waste with efficient distribution
- Promotes healthier grass and plants
- Helps maintain an even, green lawn year-round
Will an irrigation system save me money on my water bill?
Yes! A well-designed system uses water more efficiently than hand watering or hose sprinklers, reducing waste and potentially lowering your water bill.
How often should I water my new sod?
Watering is easy, especially with an irrigation system. At Emery Landscape, we recommend a heavy water after the sod is first installed. Then for the first 1-2 weeks or until the roots take hold, water 3 times a day for 15 minutes. Following the first initial weeks, we recommend watering 1″ per week.
How soon can I mow my lawn?
Mowing might seem like a breeze, but can actually cause a lot of stress and damage to your lawn. Wait at least 2 to 3 weeks before mowing to allow the sod to establish roots. Perform the tug test to check readiness.
How often should I mow after my first cut?
Once the sod is established, mow once per week for cool-season grasses and every 5-7 days for warm-season grasses.
